Joseph G. Homsy
Executive Producer
Joseph (“Joe”) Homsy is the Non-Billable Hour’s Executive Producer. When Joe’s mic is hot, sometimes he makes a serious point, but oftentimes he’ll underscore it with some sort of sarcastic comment (see below). Some say sarcasm is a defense mechanism; Joe doesn’t disagree.
As a subscriber to over fifty podcasts (stop judging him and his backlog), Joe has always been a bit curious about podcasting. He’s had a love of podcasts since they started to gain traction in the mid-2000s. In fact, for years he thought about starting one, but realized that no one wants to listen to another podcast about the White Sox (literally – no one). It wasn’t until Bethany and Dan invited him to get involved with the Non-Billable Hour that he realized how much he enjoyed the creative aspect of it. The Non-Billable Hour has provided Joe with a creative outlet (one he didn’t realize he needed) while also giving him an opportunity to learn new things.
The Non-Billable Hour has also stoked his love for mentorship. Joe owes a number of things to his mentors, all of whom have shown him the benefits of “paying it forward”. So, through the Non-Billable Hour, he hopes that he can offer some tidbits here and there that other lawyers, aspiring lawyers, and folks in the general public will find valuable. If anything, you at least know you’ll get a few sarcastic comments out of him.
Joe has been a licensed attorney for over nine years, having attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for his undergraduate degree and DePaul University College of Law for his law degree. He’s worked with Dan and Beth since 2018, focusing his practice on counseling businesses and also defending them in civil court. Joe’s favorite part of his career is negotiating, because he’s far more interested in building and creating things, rather than tearing things down.
In his free time, you’ll catch him spending time with his wife, their cat, and the rest of his family, cheering on Liverpool F.C. (YNWA), reading, or catching up on his backlog of movies.
